FAQ’s

How do I apply for a grant from ZFF?

Organizations must apply online by selecting Apply for a Grant.

What type of programs does ZFF support?

ZFF supports non-profit organizations and programs that are relevant to our mission. Our core areas include: Arts & Culture, Community, Education, and Youth Development.

Does the Foundation have a geographic focus?

ZFF prefers to focus its support to organizations and programs in the greater Tulsa metro area and occasionally in other areas of Oklahoma. Selectively, we sponsor programs outside of our primary footprint that strongly support our Mission.

Is there a specific time when ZFF accepts applications?

Applications are accepted April 1st through July 31st each year. Applications received after this time will not be considered for funding.

I have submitted an application online, when can I expect to receive an update on its status?

Applicants will be contacted with a funding decision by November 30th . If additional information is needed, ZFF staff will contact you after reviewing your application.

How do I know what amount to apply for?

Grant amounts vary by category and organization size. If you have previously received a ZFF grant, an amount in that same range is a good starting point.

Can we apply for a multi-year grant?

As a general guideline, the Foundation does not make multi-year grants.

Is there an “Other” Beneficiary Focus? What should I select if I don’t think my organization fits within the named options?

ZFF is focused on four grant types within our core areas. These are our primary focus areas and they receive the vast majority of our funding. There are rare instances when an organization’s programs or mission do not align with our priorities and might be considered for funding; however, consideration of a request outside of those focus areas is the exception.

Are there requests that the Foundation does not fund?

-Individuals for any purpose

-Individual fundraising activities

-Organizations that are not tax exempt

-Organizations that, in their constitution, discriminate against individuals, groups, or other characteristics that are protected by law

-Organizations that re-grant funds to other organizations, excluding the United Way

-Lobbying activities
